What is wireless internet service?
Wireless Internet is a specific way of bringing high-speed broadband internet to your home or business. We install a small radio antenna on the outside of your home, pointing towards one of our local access points. This device captures an encrypted radio frequency, which is then run into your home using an ethernet cable.
How much is the install cost?
Our standard install is $119 which includes a regular sized wireless subscriber unit mounted on your home with no more than 100ft of ethernet cable.
Do you offer seasonal plans?
Yes! You would be billed at your regular rate while services are on and when you shut services off your rate would drop to $20/month. This charge keeps your account open, your regular rate locked in and also keeps your equipment on site.
Are there any contracts?
No, service is month to month and you can cancel at anytime.
Can I request a refund?
Yes, we offer a 100% money back guarantee within the first 30 days from the install if you are unsatisfied with your service.
Is TK Networks satellite?
Not even close. It is a common misconception that wireless means satellite. Our low power wireless radios send and receive data through the air from our ground access points. Our wireless signals stay here on earth and have very low latency compared to satellite technology.
How can I get setup with service?
First, visit the “Contact” page and fill in your information or call
(207) 558-9911 and we will check if your home qualifies. Our staff will locate your home on our mapping system, and perform some calculations to determine if there is a possible “line of sight” between your location and one of our local access points. If it appears that we may have a line of sight to one of our local access points, we will schedule an appointment for our installation technician to come to your location to verify the signal quality. Once signal is verified, we will then install the necessary equipment to bring internet access to your location. At the time of installation, our technician will install a small radio antenna to the outside of your home, and then install an ethernet cable into your home to plug into your computer or wireless router.
Can I change plans after starting service?
Switching to a higher or lower speed is very easy with us! All it takes is one phone call to our service department. We can make this change right from our office, so there’s no need to have a technician come out! Billing will be adjusted on the day of the speed adjustment, and your regular billing will continue on the 1st.
Is the service affected by weather?
Our service is typically not affected by weather unless under extreme weather conditions. Users may notice slower speeds or shortages during very heavy rain or severe snowstorms.
How is TK Networks and satellite different?
It is important for a consumer to understand latency. Latency is the time it takes for requested information from your computer to get to the server and return the requested information back to you. Because TK Networks is tied to a local fiber optic connection, our network is REALLY quick. With satellite, simply put, the signal has to travel very long distances from earth to a geo satellite, to a ground station, and then back to the user. This results in poor web browsing performance and lousy VOIP connections.
